What Your Taste Buds Can Expect When You Travel to Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

It will be an out of this world experience for your taste buds when you travel to the outer-rim planet of Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  You will be immersed in a whole different way of eating and drinking.  Because Batuu is a rural planet, a “farm to table” style of food can be found.  Each dish and snack is unique and uses different spices, ingredients and cooking techniques.  Even the bottles you drink from will look like they are from a galaxy far far away.   Let’s take a look at some of the options you will find when you travel to Batuu.

PC: Disney Photo Snapper

Space Coke

The Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Dasani water bottles have been designed to look like decommissioned thermal detonators.  They are available throughout Galaxy’s Edge.  Just don’t try to fly home with one in your carry on or checked luggage.  TSA hasn’t appreciated this being taken home on flights.

Blue and Green Milk

If you are a Star Wars fan you will remember when Luke Skywalker drank blue milk in the original Star Wars film and when the thala-siren produced green milk from the Last Jedi.  On Batuu you can try them for yourself.  These drinks are dairy free and are a mixture of rice and almond milks served as a slush style beverage.  The blue milk seems to have a light tropical flavor while the green variation has a floral taste.  You can find the milk at the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge.

Outpost Popcorn Mix

At Kat Saka’s Kettle you can get a sweet and spicy popcorn mix.  You won’t find the Disney buttery popcorn in Galaxy’s Edge.  Disney has made sure every tiny detail even down to the popcorn is themed.  On opening day so many people wanted to try this snack there was even a cast member holding a line ends here sign just for the popcorn.

Meiloorun Juice, Turkey Jerky and Ronto Wrap the wrap is filled with spiced sausage and roasted pork and found at Ronto Roasters

Ronto Roasters

Ronto Roasters sits at the center of the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace with a large podracing engine firing up a barbecue pit.  A former settler droid, 8D-JB can be found here turning the spit of meats.  Try the Nuna Turkey Jerky here.  You can have your choice of it being sweet or spicy.

Braised Shaak Roast found at Docking Bay 7 pot roast with cavatelli pasta, kale and mushrooms

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

This is the primary dining location inside Galaxy’s Edge.  Here Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has docked his food freighter and serves plates filled with exotic ingredients with new and unusual dishes from his planet-hopping travels.  Here you can find breakfast, lunch and dinner with indoor and outdoor seating.  Some of the unusual plates are the Smoked Kaadu Ribs and the Ithorian Garden Loaf.  It is all delicious so don’t let the strange names or ingredients stop you from trying it.  After your meal you can’t forget to grab a dessert like the Batuu-bon, a chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and coffee custard.  Another great option is the Mustafarian Lava Roll which combines two of my favorite foods.  It is a cinnamon roll with frosting and Oreo cookie crumbles.

Raspberry creme puff with passion fruit mousse and chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and coffee custard found at Docking Bay 7
Moogan Tea, Blue Bantha, Bloody Rancor and the Black Spire Brew found at Oga’s Cantina

Oga’s Cantina

Oga’s Cantina attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy and the beverages served here are quite unique using “otherworldly” methods to create. Besides riding the Millennium Falcon I dare to say that this is the other most popular attraction in Galaxy’s Edge. There is a limited capacity so Disney has a day-of reservation system in place so you can avoid long wait times. Don’t think you can stay here for too long because there is a 45 minute time limit and 2 drink limit per person. No getting “Sith” faced here. See what I did there?

The Pixie Dust Life was there on opening day testing out some of the alcoholic and nonalcoholic galactic cocktails and listening to the tunes DJ R-3X, a former droid Starspeeder 3000 pilot was spinning. This local watering hole is an experience worth having.
