Got Kids…Take A Break

In August of 2021, my family of four went on a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth, AKA Walt Disney World. After a year of homeschooling because of the pandemic, socially distancing, learning to do more online, we decided to return to our Happy Place.  The last time we went was in December of 2019. Then my kids were 2 and 4.5 years old. I swore I wouldn’t go back until they were older. Why? We had many meltdowns. But I knew we needed this vacation, so I decided to book this trip. This time I decided we would TAKE BREAKS. I have heard of this before, but I thought it sounded better than theory practice. I mean, Disney is very stimulating, almost over-stimulating, even for adults. However, I decided to put it into practice this time.

Well, my friends, I am here to tell you that it has changed how we vacation!! We rope drop because my kids are 3 and 6 and wake up early. This is what happened on our first day. We rope dropped Magic Kingdom. We went left at the hub. We were able to WALK ON the Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean by doing this. We rode the rides in Adventureland, took a small break for bathrooms and gave the kids a snack. We then went through Liberty Square and hit up some of the rides in Fantasyland. We had mobile ordered early for lunch (a tip that I think everyone should do), so we had a spot and a seat when it was time for lunch. We did have an early lunch. (11:30). We spent more time at the hub watching cavalcades eating Mickey Premium Bars.

We headed out of the park about 1:00. When we returned to the resort, we could spend some time at the pool. Then it was back to our room for a snack, change of clothes, and a nap. This is was amazing. We headed back into another park that evening, around 4:30. We stayed until the park closed. We did this all week. We avoided meltdowns from everyone in our party, Mom and Dad included.

I am so glad I tested this theory out. It is genuinely the best mode of operation when you have littles. Even the Mickey Mouse Club used to take breaks! That’s why Mickey says, “See ya real soon!” In the future, we will continue to take breaks. I believe we will even do this. When the kids are older, as well. This is just one of the tips I tell my clients when visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth. I hope you found this helpful. See you real soon!
