We are counting down the days until Frozen II is released! Earlier this year at Disney’s D23 Expo, Disney revealed details about the film and from the trailers that have been released we couldn’t be more excited for opening day! The first trailer that came out in February had the most views of any animated trailer of all time. We are talking 116.4 million views in 24 hours! It’s almost time to journey back to Arendelle and here are some of the things we know so far.
You Should Watch the First Movie First
That’s because the creators have confirmed that the sequel will complete the narrative introduced in the first movie. There isn’t a different story, so you must watch the first movie to understand this one. We think it may actually answer lots of questions that were left unanswered. This movie is supposed to take place three years after the first.
There will be new characters
Kristen Bell who is the voice of Anna, revealed that there will be new characters in this sequel. We don’t know who they are yet, but they can be seen making appearances in the trailer.
Anna and Elsa’s Parents Make Appearances
The last time we saw Anna and Elsa’s parents they were headed out to sea where they died in a shipwreck. At least that is what was implied. It has only been confirmed that they are part of a flashback, but Disney also said that they will influence the plot in one way or another.
Elsa’s Ice Powers Revealed
The film’s directors, Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, confirmed that the sequel will ask the question “Why does Elsa have powers?” I can’t wait to find out the full story! How do those hands control the ice?! Her ice powers also look like they are even stronger. It looks like she will be using them in ways she never has before.
New Music
I may be able to sing every single song thanks to my daughter’s love of the last movie’s music so I can’t wait to add a few new songs to her repertoire. The husband and wife team that wrote the original songs have also written the songs for this sequel. Chrisophe Beck, also returned. He scored the original film so we can expect his talent again. Fans at D23 expo got a preview of the music.
In the End, Nothing will be the Same
Co-Director Jennifer Lee said, “In the end, nothing will be the same.” I have no idea what that means but I think we will find the Arendelle we know to be completely different in this sequel.
We will find out all these things and more when it Frozen 2 comes out on November 22!
