Top 5 Ice Cream Shops in Walt Disney World

It’s getting hot out there!  The temps are rising and so is the humidity!  My family loves to beat the heat with ice cream at Walt Disney World.  We know all the locations of the best ice cream spots and where the ice cream carts are located.  On nights when there are extra magic hours we grab an ice cream to load up the kiddo with sugar so she can last just a little bit longer.  These are some of my favorite stops but Disney has so many more for you to taste!  Try these out and let us know what you think!

5. Aloha Isle/Sunshine Terrace at the Magic Kingdom

This is of course a must do stop in the Magic Kingdom in Adventureland. They serve up the famous Pineapple Dole Whip.  It’s delicious and refreshing but is only at the top of the list because I don’t feel like it is ice cream.  I am more of the ice cream junkie that must have chocolate in my ice cream.  Dole Whip is however one of the top Disney snacks everyone raves about.

4. Beaches & Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

The ice cream isn’t special here because you can purchase their flavors at your local grocery store BUT the way they present the ice cream is unique.  Plus the inside will remind you of a vintage ice cream soda shop.  If you have a family of ice cream lovers may I suggest the Kitchen Sink.  Be camera ready when this comes to your table because your kiddos will have priceless expressions.  They really put everything but the kitchen sink in this HUGE “sink” of ice cream.   This is something you try once or put it on your Disney bucket list but it isn’t something I would do again.

3. Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop

This is for all you chocolate lovers out there!  If you are visiting Disney Springs this is where you want to stop.  They also have amazing ice cream sundaes loaded with their famous chocolate.  Their milkshakes are over the top.  You might not want to order one and try to eat it alone.

2. Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the Magic Kingdom

This is our go to ice cream stop in the Magic Kingdom.  I don’t know if it’s the ice cream or the tradition that makes this a favorite.  Don’t get me wrong the ice cream is wonderful.  The ice cream sundae’s here are fabulous.  This is where we kick off extra magic hours at night or stop for a treat as we leave the park.

1. Ample Hills Creamery

This stop is along Disney’s Boardwalk.  You can get there from any of the hotels along the Boardwalk or just by exiting Epcot’s International Gateway and taking a quick detour to grab some of this amazingly delicious ice cream.  To me they have the highest quality ingredients but also the best choice of flavors.  My suggestion here is to try the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Sundae.  You’re at Disney so you have to indulge a little right?!

There are so many other places to grab ice cream.  You can’t go wrong with any of them.  It’s the perfect way to beat the heat while you are exploring the parks this summer!  Plus can you really go to Disney without having a Mickey Bar at least once?  Not in my family!
