Today at 9:30 am an off Duty TSA officer committed suicide by jumping from the atrium balcony at the Hyatt Regency hotel at Orlando International Airport. It has been confirmed, this man has died from injuries with the fall. This has caused massive delays and flight cancellations.
As reported by News13, immediately after the jump a loud noise was heard from the fall and people started screaming. This lead to TSA agents telling people in the security line to just run through security. Because Airport security was unsure who had been properly screened, the entire section of the airport had to exit the secure areas for rescreening. At this point no flights have landed or departed OIA some 2 hours later. The ripple affect will mean major delays for most of the day. If you are traveling in or out today please pack your patience. It will be a long day.
We will update as we have more information.
