We have all been waiting on pins and needles to see what Walt Disney World and Disneyland would be doing with regards to opening on April 1st like previously anticipated. Well, now we have our answer for both coasts. Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will be closed until further notice. What does that mean exactly? They don’t yet know of an opening date. It could be a month, it could be two, it could be more. With the pandemic numbers still growing, they don’t have enough information to come up with a final date. At this point they have notified cast members they will be paid until April 18, and after that, no one knows. Official Statement from Disney Below:
In addition, Disney Cruise Line has extended cancellations though April 17th and Adventures by Disney has extended cancellations through May. This too will likely be extended.
On March 13th, Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line made the historic decision to cease operations. Then Disney Springs, Aulani, and even Adventures by Disney cancellations and closures followed. At this point, everyone is unsure if this new extended closure will stick, or if it will once again depend again. I think that all depends on the state of the United States and CDC recommendations. So for now, stay home, wash hands, and continue dreaming of Disney.
This is not the news we needed to hear today, indefinite closure of the parks I’ll have to admit, gets me in the gut little. How are you feeling about this update?
